The attempted theft of around €40,000 from the accounts of Laser card holders at Permanent TSB’s Ballincollig branch in Cork recently served as a reminder that card fraud is still a problem, despite serious efforts by the banking industry to stamp it out.

The introduction of new security measures has certainly made life more difficult for fraudsters, but hasn’t deterred them completely.
