The four Dublin local authorities are facing a multimillion euro legal bill after costs were awarded against them in two High Court actions taken by a private waste firm.

Panda Waste is understood to have spent about €2.8 million on legal and ancillary costs for two of the three cases which arose when Dublin City Council varied the terms of the capital’s waste strategy to regain control of waste disposal.
