The Fota Island Resort in Cobh, Co Cork has been put on the market by its receiver.

The 500 acre resort includes a 27 hole championship golf course which hosted the 2001 and 2002 Irish Open Championships, 131 bedroom 5 star hotel and 59 holiday lodges. The property totals about 700 acres.

Its receiver Billy O’Riordan of PricewaterhouseCoopers has appointed Colliers International and Cohalan Downing as selling agents.
