The advent of electric cars is making service stations attractive to investors looking to develop them into future charging centres and retail hubs, writes Donal Buckley
After languishing in the backwater of the property investment market for decades, the service station sector looks set for a double boost thanks to growth in electrical vehicles (EV) and increased demand from chains of both fuel and convenience stores.
John Carrigan of Cushman & Wakefield, who has been involved in recent sales, said some private investors were also becoming attracted by generous yields and strong covenants.
