A new 3.6-litre V6 diesel engine for Range Rover is undergoing development testing by Ford at its Dagenham plant. The new unit is expected to produce 250 bhp and full year production will reach 35,000 units.

It is expected that the engine will find other applications within the Ford family, possibly with Jaguar.

Ford is also building up experience in hybrid technology - its next effort in this area is expected to be a diesel hybrid.
