Ford launches new Ranger pick-up in Ireland

Ford’s new Ranger pick-up has arrived here. Built in Thailand, it has been substantially improved, with a new body and a new interior.

21st October, 2006

It also gets a new four cylinder 2.5-litre diesel engine, which produces 143bhp and 330Nm torque from 1,800rpm, thanks to a variable geometry turbocharger.

The same engine is found in the Transit.

The body can take a one tonne payload and has a three tonne towing capacity. The transmission now gets electronic ‘‘shift on-the-fly’’, which allows quick and easy engagement of four-wheel drive on the move when required.
