Food safety enforcement orders hit 10 year high

October saw the highest number of enforcement orders served on premises in ten years for food safety issues, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said today.

Twelve closure orders and six prohibition orders were served on food businesses during the month. Seventeen of the enforcement orders were issued by environmental health officers in the Health Service Executive and one by local authority veterinary inspectors in Cork County Council for breaches of food safety legislation,...
