Events in London must herald a change to how public policing takes place, writes Declan Power

Last week’s orgy of destruction, violence and thievery on the streets of English cities raises the question of whether it could happen here.

Many commentators on this side of the Irish Sea were quick to conclude that it was unlikely that such mayhem could take place on Irish streets.
