Florida optimism as sales slump

If the volume of incentives to purchase can be taken as a measure of how much the US slowdown is affecting a particular area, then it is being felt particularly badly in Florida.

This is hardly surprising, as the region posted some of the strongest gains in the country over the past few years. Data from the Florida Association of Realtors indicates that there has been a decrease in the volume of sales between the second quarter of 2005 and the same period in 2006, but the association claims that sale prices are still increasing overall.
