Fitzgerald to take on consumer rights

The government has offered Ann Fitzgerald, the secretary general of the Irish Association of Investment Managers, the position of executive chairman of the National Consumer Agency.

The government has offered Ann Fitzgerald, the secretary general of the Irish Association of Investment Managers, the position of executive chairman of the National Consumer Agency.

Fitzgerald is expected to leave her current post to take up the full-time position as the public face of consumer rights.

She previously chaired the Consumer Strategy Group, whose recommendation to abolish the Groceries Order has been followed by enterprise minister Micheal Martin.
