The Central Fisheries Board and seven regional fisheries boards are to be targeted in the government drive to cut back on the multiplicity of agencies.

The boards, which have a total workforce of 450 people, are facing restructuring after finance minister Brian Lenihan instructed ministers to find efficiencies in their departments and state agencies.
