Not everyone can volunteer as a first responder. It's very demanding, both mentally and physically.

Doing CPR is physically exhausting, and if you're in a situation where the person doesn't survive, it can be traumatic. We try to talk it out afterwards.

**We started the Wicklow Cardiac First Responders group ten years ago. There are now 31 groups in Wicklow and we've just trained 50 new recruits, our largest number ever.
