I've always been political, but a gender studies course in university was a big moment of revelation for me - to realise that the deck was so stacked against women.

Every woman growing up in a patriarchal society learns there is sexism out there. But it is shocking to learn there are systems in place that deliberately disadvantage people because of their gender.
