My dad was the White House correspondent under both LBJ and Nixon. We went to the White House for Christmas parties.

Meeting Nixon was big. You walked into the White House, and Dick and Pat were greeting everyone in a receiving line; he shook your hand and said 'Merry Christmas, young man'.

It wasn't that I was a big fan, but he was still the president.
