I always had the idea in the back of my head that I’d like to get into tropical medicine. About ten years ago, a relationship I was in fell apart and I had an ‘Oh no, what will I do now?’ moment. I read a lot of books and thought a lot about life, love and the universe, and decided that I’d apply to work as a doctor abroad.
