Rising energy costs are a huge challenge for companies running ever-larger data centres, as well as consolidating and centralising their systems using the latest technologies.

These energy costs are also tied up with organisations' environmental concerns and policies.

The cost of powering data centre systems is the most important factor for firms looking at upgrading or improving their data centre technologies or processes, according to Scott McConnell, sales manager at Interxion Ireland.
