Fine Gael front-bencher Leo Varadkar has proposed a larger budget package of spending cuts this year, allied to a stimulus package drawn from the Pension Reserve Fund and the sale of state assets.

Writing in today’s Sunday Business Post, Varadkar says that front-loading the budget cuts in the forthcoming budget would allow consumers to put the series of hairshirt budgets behind them and help rebuild economic confidence.
