Fine Gael plans revamp of Garda Siochana if elected
Fine Gael is to embark on a radical overhaul of the Garda Siochana if it is elected to power in the forthcoming general election.
The party wants to introduce ongoing reviews to assess the performance of each Garda division and district.
Enda Kenny’s party is proposing wide-ranging measures to ‘‘upskill’’ the Garda and make them more efficient. There are plans to extend the powers of the Criminal Assets Bureau to investigate corruption and abuse of office.
