Irish waste firm Padraig Thornton Waste Disposal recorded a profit of almost €1 million in 2012 due to huge growth.

Thorntons now has more than 48,000 domestic customers in Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow, its latest accounts show, after growing its domestic and commercial waste businesses by 25 per cent each during 2012.

This growth saw Thorntons turn a €2.8 million loss in 2011 into a €973,654 pre-tax profit in 2012, according to accounts just lodged with the Companies...
