Finance ministers authorise EFSF to issue debt swap bonds
Euro zone finance ministers are near clearing a second rescue for Greece as they reviewed the debt-strapped government’s progress on meeting the conditions for the aid.
Euro zone finance ministers authorised the European Financial Stability Facility to issue bonds for the Greek debt swap.
“Ministers authorise the issuance by EFSF of bonds to finance the euro area’s contribution to the PSI exercise and the repayment of accrued interest on Greek government bonds,” Luxembourg’s Jean-Claude Juncker, who leads the group of euro zone finance ministers, said today in a statement.
