Irish writer and director Ciaran Foy was inspired to make his "hoodie horror" **Citadel** after an unprovoked attack by a gang of youths on the streets of Dublin left him bloodied and badly shaken. Reminiscent of fellow homegrown filmmaker Brendan Muldowney's 2009 feature Savage, albeit told from a supernatural remove, Foy's debut film might have had bruising beginnings, but this is a frightening psychological thriller that announces an exciting new talent in Irish film.
