The Oscar-nominated film The Fighter broke through the million-euro ceiling at the Irish box office last week – after only two weeks on release. In this country alone, the film has now taken 20 per cent of its total British and Irish gross revenue, double the norm.

The Fighter, which endured four years of budget cuts, cast changes and rewrites before it was released, took €1,017,022 in the Republic and another €200,000 in the North.
