Fine Gael’s young guns were performing well in early counts in east Galway, with the first two rounds placing the party’s four candidates in the top six places for first preferences.

Fine Gael’s young guns were performing well in early counts in east Galway, with the first two rounds placing the party’s four candidates in the top six places for first preferences.

Paul Connaughton and Ciarán Cannon, both running for FG for the first time, were on 12.2 per cent and 11.7 per cent of first preferences respectively after the first count.
