The Minister for Finance, Brian Cowen, will be asked this week by Fine Gael about capital allowances for nursing homes that have closed but have received exchequer-funded tax reliefs.

The Finance Bill goes to committee stage in the Oireachtas this week, but opposition parties claim not enough time has been devoted to debating the tax reliefs scheme.

Fine Gael’s deputy finance spokesman Paul McGrath said Cowen had failed to provide enough information to parliamentary questions...
