FF to refer GP contracts to Competition Authority

Fianna Fail will raise the Minister for Health's supervision of new GP contracts with the Competition Authority this week.

Fianna Fáil health spokesman Billy Kelleher expressed concern that the minister's involvement in contract negotiations would breach competition law, as the Competition Authority has stated that General Practioners can not negotiate fees.

Minister for Health James Reilly, who is a trained GP, recently had his name reinstated on the medical register.
