A ruling due at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) this week represents an ‘‘interference in commercial freedom to use relevant information’’, according to the head of the Irish Insurance Federation (IIF).

On Tuesday, March 1, the ECJ will decide whether insurers and life companies are allowed to use gender when determining the prices they charge for financial products.
