Chairs were the success story at HOK Fine Art's April 7 sale, where prices were satisfactory rather than spectacular, the two top selling lots achieving their lower estimates.
A rare set of 20 late Victorian mahogany and satinwood dining chairs by Dublin cabinet-maker Michael Butler made €30,000, and a second set of 19th century chairs made €20,000 against an estimate of €10,000 to €15,000.
