For the last week in Kuwait, the rising tension over Iran’s nuclear programme has dominated the front pages of newspapers.

It began with reports of division-level military exercises by the Iranian army; these followed the test-firing of a new missile in the Persian Gulf.

It was only after these displays that Iran announced it had ‘‘gone nuclear’’, even if its claims were a little grander that the reality of its nuclear programme....
