Fás, the state training agency with a history of lavish spending at home and abroad, slashed spending on corporate entertainment to just €8,000 last year.

The national skills training body had previously spent an average of €242,000 each year from its corporate affairs budget.

Included among the items were hotel banquets, executive suites at sporting events, rock concert tickets and PR videos which were never even broadcast.
