Farm land prices make a healthy return

Agricultural land close to suburbs is proving popular with cash-rich investors, writes Tina-Marie O'Neill, Property Editor.

Land in Kinnegad, Co Westmeath, which is zoned for agricultural and related uses', will go under the hammer on September 17.

Agricultural sales values have risen in the past four years to €20,000 per acre in some cases for farm land close to suburban areas.

“Demand for good agricultural land is increasing and the majority of buyers are still cash buyers with funds set aside for their chosen investment,” said Ricky Wilson, head of Wilsons Auctions’ Irish operations on the Naas Road in Dublin.
