The most famous of them all, at least in recent times. The former American football star and actor was charged with the 1994 double murder of his second wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her companion, Ron Goldman. Simpson was acquitted in 1995 after a nine-month trial. The verdict caused widespread outrage, especially among white Americans. It also made a bona fide star of OJ's lead attorney, Johnnie Cochran.
