Independent travel agent Paula Coughlan is using social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, to advertise deals and drum up more business among those who use the internet to book their holidays.

Cork-based Foreign A Fares has shops in the city centre and Carrigaline, and opened one in Cobh last September, which Coughlan said was doing well, despite the recession.

However, Coughlan said that overall business was down 20 per cent on last year...
