Exploration firms submit plans to state

Six gas and oil exploration firms that are converting their licensing options to exploration licences for offshore operations in Ireland have submitted their plans.

Six of the 11 gas and oil exploration firms that are converting their licensing options to exploration licences for offshore operations around Ireland have submitted their plans to the government.

Minister for Energy Pat Rabbitte recently told the Dáil that between eight and 10 of the 13 exploration licence options issued by his department in 2011 were being converted to full licences.

The department confirmed to *The Sunday Business Post* that this number had now risen to 11.
