Exchequer returns: budget deficit narrows to €4.26bn
The first quarter budget deficit narrowed to €4.26 billion, the Department of Finance said.

The latest Exchequer return figures indicate that the country is on target to reduce its general government deficit to 8.6 per cent of GDP this year.

According to the Department of Finance, the first quarter budget deficit narrowed to €4.26 billion, compared to €7.1 billion in the first quarter of last year. Tax revenues in the first quarter of 2012 totalled €8.722 billion, an increase of €1.216 billion or 16.2 per cent for the same period...
