Border retailers have seen the euro weaken against sterling, as well as a significant hike in British Vat rates, two developments which have had a major impact, writes Peter Geoghegan in Belfast

Exchange rate fluctuations are causing as much concern as Vat rate increases among retailers in the border counties.

Last week, the Vat rate in Britain and the North increased from 17.5 per cent to 20 per cent.
