Eurozone retail sales fall more than expected

Retail sales in the euro zone dropped by 3.4 per cent in December, according to the latest data.

Retail sales in the euro zone dropped by a worse-than-expected 3.4 per cent in December, according to the latest data.

The average expectation was for a drop of 1.4 per cent from December 2011, according to Bloomberg News.

Sales fell 0.8 per cent from November, against forecasts for a drop of 0.5 per cent.
