When shopping in the EU, a key law to be aware of is the European Communities (Certain Aspects of the Sale of Consumer Goods and Associated Guarantees) Regulations, 2003.

The law outlines a common set of consumer rights, regardless of the member state in which the goods are purchased.

These include a right to return defective goods or have them repaired or replaced, up to two years after delivery.
