Euro zone inflation 0.4% in August, higher than expected

Inflation in the euro zone was 0.4 per cent in August, slightly higher than a previous estimate, but unchanged from July, new figures from Eurostat have shown.

Inflation in the euro zone was 0.4 per cent in August, slightly higher than a previous estimate, but unchanged from July, new figures from Eurostat have shown.

The same time last year, inflation in the euro area was much higher, standing at 1.3 per cent.

Inflation for the entire EU28 was 0.5 per cent in August, also unchanged compared to July. A year earlier, the figure was 1.5 per cent for the EU as a whole.
