Euro zone government deficit increases slightly in Q1

The overall government deficit in the euro zone area increased slightly during the first quarter, data from Eurostat has shown.

The overall government deficit in the euro zone area increased slightly during the first quarter, data from Eurostat has shown.

The seasonally adjusted deficit to GDP ratio was 2.7 per cent across the euro area, a slight increase on the 2.6 per cent figure reported for the last quarter of 2013.

In the EU area as a whole, the deficit to GDP ratio decreased from 3.1 per cent in the last quarter of 2013 to 1.9 per cent...
