Unemployment in the euro area has risen to a record 11 per cent amid rising joblessness in Spain and Italy.

Unemployment in the euro area has risen to a record 11 per cent amid rising joblessness in Spain and Italy.

Data released by the European statistics office have shown that this was the rate in both March and April.

Spain's was the highest rate at 24.3 per cent in April.
