Euro area business investment falls in Q1

The business investment rate in the euro area dropped to 19.3 per cent in the first quarter, compared with 19.5 per cent in the final quarter of 2013, according to new figures from Eurostat.

The business investment rate in the euro area dropped to 19.3 per cent in the first quarter, compared with 19.5 per cent in the final quarter of 2013, according to new figures from Eurostat.

The fall was the result of decreasing investment (-0.8 per cent) and gross value added increasing 0.2 per cent.

In the EU28, the business investment rate was 19.5 per cent in the first quarter, up slightly on 19.4 per cent for the previous quarter.
