Thousands of homeowners, spurred on by a new tax incentive scheme, have spent more than €80 million onhome improvements since last October.

Thousands of homeowners, spurred on by a new tax incentive scheme, have spent more than €80 million onhome improvements since last October.

The Revenue Commissioners are now considering launching a new information campaign to raise awareness of the incentive scheme.

Last year's budget introduced the Home Renovation Incentive (HRI) scheme, which introduced a tax credit for homeowners for qualifying expenditure on repair, renovation or improvement work carried out on their homes by tax compliant contractors.
