€500m Temple Street plan hangs in balance

It is almost 30 years since the redevelopment of Temple Street Children’s Hospital on the north side of Dublin city centre was first mooted.

It is almost ten years since the project was activated, almost five years since the former Minister for Health Micheal Martin announced funding for the project, and almost two years ago since the first sod was turned.

The building of the new hospital on the Mater Hospital site in Dublin was to begin this spring. Plans have been drawn up, planning permission granted and more than €46 million spent on preparatory work. It was scheduled...
