EU unemployment down with Irish rate falling faster than most

The unemployment rate for the euro zone fell slightly to 11.7 per cent in April, down from 11.8 per cent in March, figures from EU statistics office Eurostat showed.

Ireland's unemployment rate is falling steadily.

The unemployment rate for the euro zone fell slightly to 11.7 per cent in April, down from 11.8 per cent in March, figures from EU statistics office Eurostat showed.

The new statistics showed that 18.75 million were unemployed in April, with the unemployment rate falling by 76,000 between March and April.

The Eurostat figures also showed that unemployment in Ireland fell faster over the year to the end of April than all but two EU members states. The figures...
