EU set to extend bid deadline for Ryanair bid

The European Commission looks likely to extend the February 27 deadline it has set to assess the Ryanair bid for Aer Lingus.

Contacts between the commission and Ryanair are continuing amid indications that Ryanair has proposed additional concessions to try to meet EC concerns that a merger of it and Aer Lingus would seriously damage competition in the Irish airline market.
