The European Commission has called on Greece's political parties to put together a "stable" government and said it will continue to support the country's economic reforms.

Speaking in Brussels, a Commission spokeswoman said the EU was confident Greece would remain in the euro region and looked forward to a new Greek government committed to reforms.
