EU relocation scheme begins

Some 19 Eritreans left Italy for to their new homes Sweden today, the first group of asylum-seekers to be resettled under the EU relocation scheme.

Some 19 Eritreans left Italy for their new homes Sweden today, the first group of asylum-seekers to be resettled under the EU relocation scheme.

A total of 160,000 people will be resettled from Italy and Greece to the other 28 member states over the next two years.

The Eritreans, 14 men and five women, waved and blew kisses as they boarded a plane at Rome’s Ciampino airport, according to EUbusiness.com.
