EU leaders to meet today in Brussels

The leaders of the 27 countries that make up the European Union will meet in Brussels later today with efforts to promote jobs and growth likely to be top of the agenda.

International Monetary Fund managing director Christine Lagarde said this morning that European governments could consider paying Greece more money.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she won’t shy away from disagreeing with French President Francois Hollande at the summit, as the leaders seek to allay concerns that Greece may quit the euro, putting Spain and Italy at risk as well.
