EU: placed $3 billion bond for Irish assistance

The European Union has announced that it placed a €3 billion bond yesterday with proceeds to be on-lent to Ireland.

This followed a successful conclusion of a fifth programme review as part the financial assistance package decided in December 2010. Earlier the International Monetary Fund said it was releasing €3.2 billion to Ireland after the review.

The EU said the disbursement to Ireland was foreseen for March 5th, the settlement date of the bond.
