Consumers could see their insurance premiums rise by up to 30 per cent from the end of 2012 as a result of a European Court of Justice ruling earlier this year, according to a new report.

In March, the court ruled that after December 21 next year, insurers and life companies will no longer be allowed to use gender when determining the price of financial products, including motor insurance, life cover and annuities.
